Welcome letter
On behalf of Rhymney Valley I would like to welcome your child to the club and provide you with some information about our activities and club values. The club is open to children between the ages of 4 and 16 to receive athletic coaching and compete in varied suitable events. All coaching is by qualified coaches who are trained and have various sporting backgrounds.  The club is well supported by Sport Caerphilly, Welsh Athletics and our first confirmed sponsor Braces Bakery.

We welcome parents to all training sessions and competitions and value your support.  We are keen to try and involve parents in the club as this will be fundamental in us supporting your child.

Training sessions take place on a Thursday evening from 6pm-8pm ( Please see timings for your childs age group) at Blackwood Comprehensive School.

Arrangements should be made for your child to travel to and from training sessions and events. Parents are expected to stay and support at events but a club representative will always be supporting.

The club training kit consists of a red t-shirt, polo shirt and hoodie all with the club badge available from cc sports in Bargoed at discounted prices.  The club will hold vests for competitions and the club colours are red and blue.  The cost of each training session is £2 and competition fees are extra depending on what events your child wants to do.  The club has an annual membership fee of £15:

• Free club t-shirt (1st sign up)
• Recognition in club presentation evening and other social events yet to be arranged

Additional to our membership for any child over 9 there is a £7.50 or £10 (u17) Welsh Athletics fee also due by the 1st of April every year.

The advantages of registering with Welsh Athletics opens up a wide range of competitions and activities organised by the national governing body and the chance to be selected to represent Wales, there are extra benefits to make sure you get the best out of your Athletics experience:

• Annual Yearbook listing all competitions, contacts, information - a must-have for every athlete
• yearly registration card with unique personal number
• basic insurance
• £5 off any Under Armour product when spending £30 at Tony Pryce Sports
• 10% off at Tony Pryce Sports with Loyalty Card
• £2 entry fee reduction in road running events
• 20% off products from the Lucozade online shop
• 10% off at Run and Become

Children should wear appropriate footwear ie trainers, at all times.  Both Run and Become and Moti in Cardiff can assess your childs need and recommend trainers typs.  They are reasonable with many junior styles on offer and with a 10% discount they are worth a visit.

Our website, Facebook and Twitter is a great way of keeping in touch and all updates will be posted on there.

If you would like to talk to someone at the club about this information or your child’s involvement with the club, please speak any member of the team or contact us using the contact page.

We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to having some great fun.
